Vanscape can replace the canvas on nearly any brand of pop top elevating roof with either an OEM canvas (if available) or a bespoke made to order canvas if an original manufacturer’s replacement item isn’t available.
Original manufacturer’s canvasses will be a like-for-like canvas or may be a newer version if the manufacturer has updated their design for any reason.
There aren’t usually any options available for customising an OEM canvas.
A bespoke canvas can be made for just about any pop top roof and can offer opportunities to customise the look of the van by adding details maybe not available with an OEM canvas.
Options can include choosing a colour from the wide selection of available colours, adding a scenic front opening zip, adding details like contrasting coloured window flyscreens, adding extra elastic pull-in straps to help prevent canvas damage.
Fitting a new canvas usually takes two consecutive days, but occasionally extends to three days for complicated jobs. We need the van at the workshop by around 8:30am on the first day of the booking, and the van is usually ready to leave again by early afternoon on the second day.
The ordering process is different between OEM and Bespoke canvasses; an OEM canvas can usually be ordered if details are available regarding the roof brand, the roof model, and the year fitted. We usually also need pictures with the roof open from the front, rear, and the side clearly showing the hinges.

The cost of a replacement canvas varies depending on the model of the roof and the options chosen. OEM canvasses usually cost around £1700, whereas bespoke canvasses start at £1950 and go up to around £2200 with all the options available.
How long a canvas takes to arrive depends on the availability of the canvas or it’s complexity, but it is usually from 1 to 4 weeks for an OEM canvas, and 4 to 6 weeks for a bespoke canvas.
Fitting availability once the canvas arrives is often within 2 weeks but can be a fair bit longer when we’re really busy.
Whilst working on the pop top roof, Vanscape is also able to offer many other services, where necessary or wanted by the customer:

- replacement standard or uprated roof lifting struts
- replacement pop top roof rubber seal
- replacement rear hinges (where available)

Disclaimer. The process for replacing a pop top canvas usually involves removing the entire pop top roof, replacing the canvas to the pop top shell, and then refitting the pop top to the van. Because this involves removing all the original canvas fix-down screws and replacing them again later back into the same holes, there is always a slight risk of electrical wiring that has been inappropriately routed by the original converter becoming damaged. This is very rare, and we will always take every reasonable precaution to avoid it happening, but in the event that there is an electrical issue after the canvas has been re-fixed, Vanscape cannot take responsibility for the problem, and it will need to be dealt with by an auto electrician.
